How to convert kilopascals to bar

One kilopascal equals 0.01 bar, so multiply the number of kilopascals by 0.01:

bar = kPa × 0.01
kPa = bar ÷ 0.01 (1 bar = 100 kPa)

Example: 100 kPa → 100 × 0.01 = 1 bar.

Going the other way, divide by 0.01, or multiply by 100; the bar to kilopascals converter does it for you.

Everyday values

100 kPa1 bar1 bar
101.3 kPa1.013 baratmospheric pressure
220 kPa2.2 bara typical car tyre
250 kPa2.5 bara loaded car tyre

When you need this conversion

Divide kilopascals by 100 to get bar. 230 kPa on a door-frame sticker is 2.3 bar or about 33 psi.

About the units

  • Kilopascal (kPa): 1,000 pascals.
  • Bar (bar): exactly 100,000 pascals, close to atmospheric pressure at sea level.

Both are units of pressure. The conversion factor comes from the exact definitions above, so the calculator is exact; results are only rounded for display (up to six significant digits).
